2008 Indy 500 Festival Kickoff Event
Monument Circle, Indianapolis, In.

The 500 Festival kicked off the month of May and celebrated its 2008 theme: Fuel the Dream on Thursday, May 1 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. on Monument Circle in Downtown Indianapolis.

Those in attendance celebrated the start of a month-long series of events and programs with Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard, 500 Festival Board of Director’s and staff and the 2008 500 Festival Princesses.

This year’s Indianapolis 500 Chevrolet Corvette pace cars were also on display. The first 500 people received a free giveaway and lunch. There was also live music from Sunday Edition to enjoy. Below are some photos of the day's events, courtesy of John Main.
