For
2009, thirty-five Silver with Black top Corvette Convertibles
were sent to the Speedway to assist Camaro by providing
Festival committee support and carrying drivers in the
Festival parade.
A
Silver Camaro Coupe paced the race, and additional Camaro
early production "2010" model coupes were
sent to be "track cars" for the 2009 race
While
the "real" Camaro Pace cars had high tech
painted graphics, these Camaros had similar / simpler
vinyl graphics applied at the Speedway to what you see
on the Covettes.
A
handful of Corvettes were retained and rebadged for
the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard NASCAR race held later
in the year. As is tradition, the rest of the cars were
distributed to Indiana Chevrolet dealers and sold to
the public shortly after the Indy 500.
All
Corvette Festival cars had automatic transmissions again
this year since they were used for IPL 500 Festival
Committee member use.
The
cars arrived minus graphics, which were applied at the
Speedway.
